Interior and exterior painting in Cambridge
We paint homes across Cambridge, formed in 1973 from the former City of Galt and the towns of Preston and Hespeler. Close to a quarter of Cambridge homes predate 1960, the oldest share of any city in the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge area, and single-detached houses make up more of the city's stock here than in either neighbour.
A recent Galt repaint
We recently finished a whole-home repaint in Galt, covering walls, ceilings, trim, and doors with a full surface prep pass, an accent feature wall, and refinished kitchen cabinetry. It is the kind of job Cambridge's older stock calls for on a regular basis, not a one-off.
Lead paint, correctly framed
Ignore the 1978 date circulating online; it belongs to an American ban that Ontario does not follow. Canada's current limit on lead in coatings sold today is 90 mg/kg, a rule about new paint, not about what already sits under an older Cambridge home's finish coats. Ontario instead sorts real work by expected dust exposure: a power tool with effective HEPA dust collection keeps sanding or scraping in the lowest category, while the same tool run dry is two categories higher. On any home from Galt, Preston, or Hespeler's older streets, we test suspect coatings before disturbing them.
Stipple ceilings, and Cambridge's three heritage districts
A friable stipple ceiling in an older Cambridge house may be asbestos-containing, and disturbing more than a square metre of it is treated as higher-hazard work, with the duty to test placed on the homeowner before any tender is requested. Main Street, Blair Village, and Dickson Hill, at the heart of the former City of Galt, are Cambridge's three designated heritage conservation districts, and an exterior colour change inside any of them can need heritage approval first.
Ceiling height and the rest of the house
