Concrete driveways in Guelph
A driveway sees two things a backyard slab usually doesn't: daily vehicle weight and de-icing chemical dragged in on tires. Guelph's near-surface soil is glacially deposited clay, silt, and sand sitting above the limestone bedrock the city's own wells draw from, so drainage under the slab matters as much as the mix design above it. We pour through the shoulder seasons and hold off once the weather won't let fresh concrete cure properly, protecting anything already placed against a sudden cold snap. No de-icing salt on the surface through that first winter: sand for traction, a hose for tracked-in road salt, while the slab keeps gaining the strength it needs.
